Competitive Obedience – Open

Competitive Obedience is a CKC titling performance sport in which dogs are judged against a standard of excellence.  The Companion Dog Excellent, or Open, level of competitive obedience is considered by many to be the most challenging level because it requires so much learning beyond what was required to earn the Companion Dog title.  This class is suitable for dogs who are ready to begin trialing or those who are new to CDX training.

In this class we will introduce and proof skills required for Open:

  • Heeling Off Leash.
  • Drop on Recall.
  • Retrieve on Flat and Retrieve Over the High Jump.
  • Broad Jump.
  • Out of Sight Stays.

If you have started your training of these skills, or want to introduce them to your dog, each exercise is taught so that the dog has clarity and motivation to perform.  We’ll also work on foundation skills like Fronts and Finishes.

Prerequisites:  Some heeling skills.

Next class scheduled to start:  T.B.C.

Fee:  5 weeks – $200 + HST
