Reactive Dog Training
Do you have a dog who barks and lunges at other dogs or unfamiliar people? Does he becomes so agitated he doesn’t respond to anything you say, and ignores any food you offer him. Reactive dog classes will help you train your dog so that he can begin to change how he copes around other dogs.
We understand more about helping reactive dogs than we ever have before. A reactive dog rarely gets better on his own and almost always gets worse over time. This intensive class can help you to train your agitated, over-aroused or reactive dog to respond differently to his triggers. Although these may sound like different problems, they are all related.
In this five week intensive class we will:
- use the science of applied animal behaviour to change your dog’s state of mind. New behaviours are trained to replace old ones.
- practice handler training – a large part of this program is developing handlers who provide the dog with clear, consistent communication and guidance.
- focus on teaching your dog self control, even when aroused or when faced with a difficult situation.
- use agility equipment and FitPaw equipment to build your dog’s confidence and develop body awareness.
Classes are limited to 4 dog and handler teams.
Private training for reactivity is also available. Click here in you think one-on-one training would suit you better.
